Tom Hanks Launches Veteran-Owned Business Map With The Rosie Network

July 5, 2026

Supporting veteran entrepreneurs has gained a new digital resource with the launch of an expanded interactive business directory backed by actor Tom Hanks and The Rosie Network. The initiative aims to make it easier for consumers to discover and support verified veteran-owned and military spouse-owned businesses across the United States.

Tom Hanks, known for films such as "Forrest Gump" and "Cast Away," founded the coffee brand Hanks for Our Troops on a simple idea: sell coffee and support veterans. The brand directs 100% of its profits to organizations that serve veterans. Hanks does not take any share of the profits.

Now, that mission has expanded through a partnership with The Rosie Network, a nonprofit organization based in San Diego. The group supports veteran and military spouse entrepreneurs and has helped more than 35,000 military business owners since its founding in 2012.

Stephanie Brown founded The Rosie Network. She is the spouse of the late Rear Adm. Tom Brown.

Searchable Veteran Business Map

Instagram | hanks | Tom Hanks backs a new interactive directory aimed at boosting veteran- and military spouse-owned businesses.

The new Veteran Business Map allows users to search for verified veteran-owned and military spouse-owned businesses nationwide. The platform offers a simple way to discover small businesses and learn more about the people behind them.

About 60% of the businesses listed on the map belong to military spouses. This community faces an unemployment rate of about 22%, the highest among all employment groups in the United States.

Stephanie Brown explained the goal of the initiative, saying, “By providing a platform that gives the public direct access to verified veteran-owned small businesses, we are fostering a culture of intentional support.”

She also said, “This map is a vital resource for entrepreneurs looking to grow their reach and for consumers who want to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who have served our country.”

Additional Support and Resources

The directory does more than list businesses. It also features veteran-support organizations, charities, and local resources for veterans and their families.

Veteran-owned businesses can apply to join the directory through the platform. To qualify, the business must have a Google listing and complete the verification process.

The expanded Veteran Business Map brings veteran-owned businesses, military spouse-owned companies, and support resources together in one place. The directory increases visibility for military entrepreneurs and helps consumers find verified businesses across the country with greater ease.
